Passage #138: 29 February 2012
This week, we will be exploring all the spaces between. We will climb stairs. We will cross courtyards. We will course through alleys and plazas and parks. We may even go up and down a ramp or two or sidestep any number of gates. But (and this is important!) we will stay within one mile of the start point at all times, because if one is to explore spaces between, one must first establish constraints that answer the important question "between what." For us, as you know, the stair-climbing, courtyard-crossing, ramp-going and such are not the least bit out of the ordinary (inconvenience being one of our major selling points). But ah, staying close to home... now that is unusual!
We propose that you join us on a bicycle ride tonight. And remember that it is leap day! If you refuse our proposal, then in accordance with custom, you must buy us a dozen pairs of gloves* so that we may hide our shame.
* A dozen donuts may be substituted for a dozen pairs of gloves, in which case our shame will be quickly internalized.
