Passage #148: 9 May 2012

Cravat Emptor

Okay, okay. We know our pun doesn't make sense. Emptor means "buyer." It's caveat that means "beware." So we want it to be something like "beware of neckwear," but that would be something entirely less punny in Latin. More a confusing half-rhyme than a pun. And probably still not make any sense (is the tie supposed to beware?). So, okay, the route name is something about buying a tie. ...Which, at times, can be frustrating? ...Like perhaps the route? So... Maybe we're onto something?

Or maybe not.

Either way, this week's ride is vaguely neckwear-related. No more or less vague than any of our other themes, really. You'll see. And maybe you want to don your favorite tie? Or cravat. Or kerchief.

Or maybe not.

But what you will definitely do is a bunch of off-roading. And hills. And some off-road hills that we'll all probably have to walk. And one off-road hill that we will barely be able to even walk. Though that is actually, technically a road. Los Angeles is like that. And so is this route. It'll be fun!

Not much distance though.
